More and more and especially in the area of complex infrastructural objects such as tunnels, road designers develop so called closed shape road restraint systems like the Jersey or Step barrier.
SPIE developed this electrically driven CADO variation some years ago when being asked by the Norwegian Road Authorities Statens Vegvesen to supply a closed shaped emergency gate barrier.

The first one was installed at the Strindheimtunnel in Trondheim.
